UNITY PROJECT NIGERIA CONVENER MEETS PRINCE OLUSI, LAGOS GAC LEADER

…..Informs Him Of Upcoming Unity Festival In Lagos And Other Parts Of The Country.

Jennifer Tokunbo Serrano, Convener of the Unity Project Nigeria, yesterday paid a courtesy visit to Prince Dr. Tajudeen Olusi MON, Chairman of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council, at his residence. This meaningful encounter brought together two passionate advocates for Nigerian culture and unity. Baba Olusi, a renowned historian and pioneer chairman of the Lagos Council of Art and Culture, expressed delight in seeing the younger generation take interest in preserving Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.

During the visit, Baba Olusi shared captivating stories about the Lagos Colony, highlighting its history as a British colonial possession centered on the port of Lagos in what is now southern Nigeria. Lagos was annexed on August 6, 1861, and declared a colony on March 5, 1862. He also discussed the various communities that have settled in Lagos for over a century, showcasing the city’s diverse history.

Baba Olusi generously gifted books on Lagos history and promised to share copies of his upcoming book, “The Kingdom of Lagos.” This gesture symbolizes the importance of intergenerational knowledge transfer and the significance of documenting Nigeria’s history.

The visit served as an opportunity to inform Baba Olusi about the Unity Festival, scheduled to take place in Lagos on December 26, 2024. This event aims to celebrate Nigeria’s diversity and promote unity among its people. The Unity Project Nigeria invites all to join in this vibrant celebration of music, dance, drama, and cultural exhibitions.
